My oven is busted, but still making gingerbrad cookies and desserts.

Necessity is the mother of invention, they say.
In norwegian the saying goes "Nød lærer naken å spinne" meaning that need/distress theaches naked lady to spin.
Well my oven just broke down and I had made some gingerbread dough, what to do, what to do.
A little while ago I made a traditional coockie useing a krumkake iron,
(read about krumkake HERE for explaination)
I thoght, why not give the old iron a try.

Milkpaint, safepaint and the bedroom in the attic

When I bought this place, the rooms in the attic had a yellowish tint and when I painted the floors light grey I they really thought they looked yellow.
I decided to ty out a new whitewash, that just came out on the market here in Norway.
Milkpaint and Safepaint, the difference is that Milkpaint needs an extra bonding agent when you mix it, when you are going to paint already painted surfaces.

Friday cocktail, A Remy Martin Side car

The girls were bold, liberated and had short cut hair.
They painted their lips with raspberry red lipstick and pouted their mouths.
They wore scandalously short dresses adorned with feathers and pearls.
This is the image I have of the Flapper girls in the 1920's.

Wood storage

Cosy advent lights in antisipation of Christmas, last sunday we lit the second candle counting down towards  the festive hollidays.
It is perched on top of on Expedit shelves I bought from IKEA.
Winter has finally arrived and it is getting colder and ligting the fireplace gives a warm and cosy feeling.
I got some fire wood and did not have a nice way to store it, so I just sett it on top of some brown packaging paper.

The show must go on

Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on
Does anybody know what we are looking for

The lyrics are from a song by Queen or is it Freddy Mercury. Oh, no matter, it reflects my feelings at the momet.

Just as fast as we started our relationship, it ended. We have been together since the day we met and the day we desided to go our separate ways, it did not take long befor I was situated in a new place.
I have been together with my husband for almost 21 years, half my life.

Fastelavn buns

Norwegian Mothersday and Fastelavn fell on the same sunday this year.
Fastelavn comes from the low german word vastel-avent, evening before Lent and it is the name commonly used for Carnival in the scandinavian countries. Fastelavn evolved from the Roman Catholic tradition of celebrating the days before Lent, but since the scandinavian countries became Protestant, the holiday became less specifically religious. This holiday occurs seven weeks before Easter Sunday and is sometimes described as a Nordic Halloween, children dressing up in costumes and gather treats for the Fastelavn feast. The holiday is generally considered to be a time for children's fun and family games. The Cat in the Sac is often played and is a nordic version of a Piñata.
